Recent Work
I am currently in training as an Endocrinology fellow at Northwestern and finished Internal Medicine residency at the University of Chicago. I completed my undergraduate training in Biomedical Engineering and medical school at the University of Wisconsin.
My research interests include obesity and metabolic disease. In collaboration with Dr. Neff, we are studying the role of brown adipose tissue (BAT) and its potential as a target for obesity interventions. We are currently implementing a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial of capsinoid supplementation in obese men to evaluate the effects of chronic ingestion of capsinoids on weight loss, BAT activity, indices of glucose metabolism, insulin sensitivity, resting energy expenditure, cold-induced and diet-induced thermogenesis.
