Recent Work
Akriti Singh is a PhD student at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, Tufts University. She is interested in the determinants of child under-nutrition in low and middle-income countries.
In 2010, Akriti received a Masters in Public Health from Yale University School of Public Health with a specialization in Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases. Prior to attending Tufts, Akriti spent close to 4 years working for Suaahara, a USAID-funded integrated nutrition project implemented in 41 out of 75 districts of Nepal. Suaahara aims to improve chronic under-nutrition in children by targeting the first 1,000 days through nutrition; health; family planning; water, sanitation and hygiene; agriculture; and governance interventions. In her role with Suaahara, Akriti was responsible for providing oversight to planning, designing, and implementing health and nutrition components in 13 districts. More recently she was involved in Suaahara research efforts such as an operations research to increase coverage of hard to reach populations, and the process evaluation studies that aimed to understand whether and how the project was meeting its objectives. At Tufts, Akriti is working with the Nutrition Innovation Lab to assess the effect of paternal migration on child nutrition status in Nepal.
