Recent Work

Kurt Hager received his masters in Food Policy and Nutritional Epidemiology from Tufts University Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy in 2019. He is currently studying the effectiveness of nutritional interventions and policies on improving diet-related, chronic disease in the US. He previously worked on research with Children’s HealthWatch, a national network of pediatricians and researchers, focusing on social determinants of health for young children in urban pediatric clinics.

Kurt formerly served as the Project Manager at the Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation at Harvard Law School for the Massachusetts Food is Medicine State Plan, a multi-year initiative engaging physicians, insurers, legislators and community-based organizations to expand payment systems for nutrition services integrated into clinical care for low-income patients. Prior to living in Boston, Kurt worked for five years at a Feeding America food bank, Second Harvest Heartland, in Minneapolis, MN. This work included leading a program to integrate a community-based, food assistance referral into the electronic medical records at Hennepin County Medical Center.
