Dr. Lisa Neff is an Assistant Professor of Endocrinology,Metabolism, and Molecular Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago. Dr. Neff earned her Bachelor’s degree in German and Biology from Tufts University in 1994 and her M.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in 1999. She completed a residency in Internal Medicine at UIC in 2002 and dual fellowships in Endocrinology and Clinical Nutrition at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston in 2006. Upon completion of her fellowships, Dr. Neff joined the Clinical Scholar Program at the Rockefeller University in New York City, earning a Master’s Degree in Clinical and Translational Research. She was then appointed to the faculty at Northwestern in 2009. Dr. Neff is board-certified in Endocrinology. She is also certified by the American Board of Physician Nutrition Specialists. She is an active member of The Obesity Society and the American Society for Nutrition.

Dr. Neff’s clinical practice is focused on the management of obesity, nutritional disorders, and weight-related metabolic disorders, including type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Neff has an active research program focusing on obesity and metabolic disease. Her primary research aims to investigate factors which may be involved in the process of metabolic adaptation to weight loss in individuals who have become overweight or obese. Another major area of focus is nutritional interventions for obesity-related metabolic disorders. In addition, Dr. Neff serves as an investigator for multi-center trials of new therapeutic options for the treatment of obesity and related metabolic disorders, such as diabetes.

Dr. Neff also serves as a clinical and research mentor, small group instructor, and lecturer on topics related to obesity and nutrition for medical students, primary care residents, and endocrine fellows at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.
